Ice on Electric Lines

The threat of an ice storm brings to mind your electrical lines to your house. During an ice storm the ice forms on trees limbs causing them to break under the added weight. Sometimes these limbs will fall on your electrical lines coming to your house. If this happens it could pull the service riser and meter base off your house. The first thing you should do is report this to your provider (Jackson Energy Authority or Southwest Electric). Never should you go near these fallen lines or try to move them. Your next call should be to a trusted and licensed electrician.
